Title/Description:  "Freedom Event & Information Fair" - This is a FREE event for children with special needs, their family, friends, and caregivers just to be able to enjoy themselves for an evening out. A dance with live music and many family-fun activities are planned. Two bands, EZRA (from last year's event) and J. Allen Spencer will be playing for your dancing pleasure.  There will be food, activities, door prizes, and much more. IN*SOURCE and other community organizations will have information stations set up so families can learn more about locally available services. Representatives from IN*SOURCE will be on hand with materials and information to assist students, parents, families, and other service providers in learning about IN*SOURCE services and programs, general basic special education rights and responsibilities, and transitioning students to adult services.

Title/Description:  "Interpreters: Building Cultural Bridges"- This training is for a private agency and is not open to the public.  This workshop is for current Spanish language interpreters and those interested in interpretation. This session will show the importance of accurate, impartial interpretations, discuss interpreting "etiquette," present OSEP-created educational terminology in the Spanish language as a guide for interpreters, and establish the need for Spanish language interpreters to have additional training in the special education process to better understand their role in the case conference. Title/Description: "Managing the Stress of the Case Conference" - Preparing for the case conference is stressful enough, and it can get even worse when you are in the middle of the case conference. This webinar will give you tips and techniques to manage the stress and stay in the best mindset while trying to advocate for your child's educational needs. The guest presenter will be Jennifer Ferrara, Innovations in Learning. This webinar is free and open to the public. Participation is limited so register early. Two families will share their stories.  There will be a visual make-it-take-it for families as well as the usual fun activities and games for all children in attendance. Title/Description: "The Role of the Volunteer in Special Education Case Conferences" - This webinar is for current IN*SOURCE parent volunteers only (not open to the public). This training will help volunteers to better support parents at case conferences, help parents to more easily navigate the current special education process in Indiana, and communicate more effectively, efficiently, and diplomatically with parents and school personnel.
